Hand over usable set pieces to a relay structure instead of the skip
Instead of sending leftover set pieces to the skip at wrap, the production hands them to a relay structure: a DIY recycling workshop that stores set pieces for the theatre world, or a municipal drop-off point where productions can collect or leave items for free. An informal exchange group among Dutch producers works the same way, on a smaller scale.
This happens at the end of the shoot, when the set would otherwise simply be thrown out — either the crew drops items off voluntarily, or a relay structure comes to collect them.
The source does not give a figure for Dutch productions specifically, and notes that a shared, sector-wide set depot is a need that has been identified but not yet built.
